Peptide Storage Guide

Proper storage is essential for maintaining peptide integrity. This guide covers everything you need to know about storing research peptides.

Temperature Guidelines by Format

Different peptide formats require different storage conditions. Follow these guidelines to maximize the shelf life and potency of your research compounds.

Lyophilized Peptides

-20°C or colder

Freeze-dried peptides are the most stable format. Store sealed at -20°C for long-term preservation. Can tolerate brief room-temperature exposure during transit. Shelf life: 2+ years when properly stored.

Reconstituted / Liquid

2-8°C (Refrigerate)

Once reconstituted or in liquid form (including nasal sprays), store at standard refrigerator temperature. Use within the timeframe specified on the product label. Do not freeze unless aliquoting for long-term storage.

Tablets / Capsules

Room temp or 2-8°C

Oral tablet formulations are more stable at ambient conditions but benefit from refrigeration. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep in original sealed container.

Storage Best Practices

Refrigerate immediately upon receipt

Transfer peptide products to the refrigerator (2-8°C) as soon as your package arrives. Stemcode ships with insulated packaging, but prolonged exposure to ambient temperatures should be minimized.

Protect from light

Many peptides are photosensitive. Keep products in their original opaque or amber containers. Avoid leaving vials or sprays on benchtops under fluorescent or direct lighting for extended periods.

Avoid freeze-thaw cycles

Repeated freezing and thawing accelerates peptide degradation. If you need to store reconstituted peptides long-term, divide them into single-use aliquots before freezing at -20°C.

Maintain sterile technique

When working with liquid peptides, use sterile instruments and avoid contaminating the stock solution. Our nasal sprays include BKC preservative, but proper handling is still essential.

Keep containers sealed

Exposure to moisture and air promotes oxidation and hydrolysis. Always replace caps tightly after use. For lyophilized peptides, keep under inert gas (nitrogen or argon) when possible.

Signs of Degradation

Discard any peptide product that shows the following signs:

Cloudy or turbid solution (should be clear)
Visible particulates or precipitate
Color change from original appearance
Unusual odor
Expired beyond labeled shelf life

Degraded peptides may produce unreliable research results. When in doubt, use a fresh supply.
